Spanish property prices

Properties such as this will become very much sought after in the months to come.
Yes! Great news indeed according to the Sur in English free newspaper. The property sales on the Costa del Sol, for the first half of the year, rose by 45%! This is back to the figures of the pre-crash year of 2007. These are sales by new investors and 4,700 properties so far, this is up by 45% from last year. The experts (whoever they are?) predict a further increase of 20% by the end of the year and hopefully, that will include our own properties (fingers crossed!)

Reading the report in the Sur in English, it goes on to say that a project by the Tourist Board and Constructors Association called “Living Costa del Sol” is to be continued, this project aims to get people to buy up all the new, unsold properties and thus taking the slack out of the system and therefore this will help by making properties more scarce and so the prices will be more realistic because at the moment some people are selling well below the properties real value.

Internet services are now as important to people as TV, radio and the main utilities, you just cannot have a house without the Internet, and it has become part of our DNA almost. Along with the necessity for Internet services come the problems of finding a supplier.
Some Internet Services Suppliers promise you the earth, fast download, fast upload, great bandwidth, 99% uptime, 24/7 connection and god knows what else, unfortunately, the reality is very different.

My own experience

I live in a rural location in Malaga and for years I paid for a 3m satellite dish and got my services from the UK, it was very expensive but I need the Internet to function. Eventually, almost a decade later, local firms offered what seemed to be the answer. Cheaper Internet and a reasonable speed. So, I took up the offer, got rid of my UK service and I went with the local company and all was Honky Dory, or it was until things went wrong.
The first year or two my ISP was fine, the odd time we had a little problem, usually if there was a power cut in the area or whatever but, as soon as more people started to join, the speed got increasingly slower and the service less and less reliable until one stage, I was rebooting the pc and purging the router continuously and it was a real drag.

Trying to upload videos to YouTube or photos of any decent size was absolute purgatory and I complained long and hard. I was told the problem was my equipment, my router, old cables and anything else that happened to come into the mind of the technician. The real truth was too many people using the service which had a limited capacity. I needed an answer and I needed it fast if my pc was not to end up smashed from a bout of “Techno-rage”.

I am not Albert Einstein but I am no fool, I searched about for another ISP in the area and I was recommended to Axartel, they had moved into the area and had a good reputation but that cut no ice with me, I wanted proof positive before I went from one ISP to another, no matter how bad the present one was. So, I read the information on their website and I contacted them and although my Spanish isn’t bad I was able to talk to an English speaker, this made the finer details easier to understand as I had many questions for them.

The upshot of this is; Axartel let me have a trial period to road test the service and I was impressed, so impressed I have ditched the local ISP and I now get 4 x faster up and down and for a few shekels less. It has now been 3 months and I have no complaints, I also have no temper fits and my equipment is safe from harm. is their website; take a look, especially if you are in the clutches of a bad Internet service provider. Since I took up the offer, several more neighbours have also joined, no doubt the local lad who sold me the bad service has an effigy and sticks pins in it nightly but I don’t care, it’s all about service and bad service does not deserve plaudits.  Axartel Internet Suppliers.
